Ikigai is a question to explore, not a formula to follow.

The Japanese word ikigai is often translated in different ways. Here, it opens a conversation about what gives life meaning, how work relates to that meaning, and what you might want to try next.

Rather than offering a ready-made answer, zenschool makes room to listen to your own experience and explore it with others.

Begin with a story

How we learn

Reflection becomes more useful when it is connected with experience. The practice at zenschool brings together attentive dialogue, embodied awareness and small experiments in everyday life and work.

People and place

zenschool is based in Kamakura, Japan. Its founders, Kouji Miki and Shigeru Utsunomiya, draw on their own experience of work, change and learning with others. Retreats in Kumano involve additional collaborators who know the region.
